Backing up the argument: |
| |
Europe has a long record of pro-Arab bias and double standards in
the Middle East, especially since the 1973 Yom Kippur
War. |
| |
The European Union is indeed a sort of historical miracle that put
an end to war in Europe. But Europeans should understand that the
Middle East is not Europe. The pacification of the European continent
occurred not as a result of the appeasement policy of the 1930s, but
after the total victory against totalitarian regimes and after the
democratization of these regimes. The Europeans cannot expect to apply
their model to the Middle East, a region of dictatorships where dictators
“need” war and external enemies to justify their illegitimate
rule of their subjugated peoples. |
| |
If Europeans want to play a constructive role, they should put pressure
on the dictators that want war and not on the democracy that wants
peace.
